The Collins Study Bible, also known
as the HarperCollins Study Bible or HCSB contains maps,
study notes, and introductions to each book of the
Bible. In the new, revised version of the Collins
Study Bible there are informative essays on the
archaeology of ancient Israel and the New Testament
world, the religion of ancient Israel, and the social
and historical context of each biblical book.
Some may consider the study notes in
this Bible to be more liberal than other study Bibles
while others may consider it to be fair and balanced.
Some of the biblical stories are not interpreted as
literal in the notes (Jonah, parts of Daniel, Esther,
and certain miracles.) This should be considered
when considering a purchase of the Collins study Bible.
